HOLDS UP “5 AI tools blowing up on GitHub” — checked all five. Real, and bigger than claimed
The claimFive repos are trending on GitHub right now — a full AI agency in your terminal, a free gateway to 231+ AI providers, video editing by coding agent, AI investment research, and Google's own agent CLI — and every screenshot in the post is real.
All five repos verified live against GitHub, and every one is bigger today than the post claimed. agency-agents: claimed 123k stars, actually 139k+. OmniRoute: claimed 9k, actually 43k — and up to 290+ providers since. video-use: claimed 13k, actually 20k. ai-berkshire: claimed 8k, actually 15k. agents-cli is Google's official repo at 5.5k. The ‘REAL SCREENSHOT’ stamps held up. Rare verdict: the post undersold reality.
What holds up
- All five repos exist, active, pushed to this week
- agency-agents: 139k stars vs 123k claimed
- OmniRoute: 43k stars vs 9k claimed — now 290+ providers, 90+ free
- video-use: 20k stars vs 13k claimed
- ai-berkshire: 15k stars vs 8k claimed
- agents-cli: Google's official repo, numbers match
What doesn't
- ‘Whole AI agency’ = specialist subagent prompt bundles, not a business on autopilot
- Caption is recycled save-this bait unrelated to the slides
- Star counts a few weeks stale — in the claim's favor this time
The catch
The inverse catch, for once: the screenshots were real but stale, and every repo has grown since — one nearly 5x. Nothing is for sale here except the follow. When a curation account underclaims and stamps real screenshots that check out, log that too — calibration cuts both ways.
How to actually do it
- agency-agents (specialist Claude Code subagents): git clone https://github.com/msitarzewski/agency-agents, then copy the agent .md files you want into ~/.claude/agents/ (global) or your project's .claude/agents/ folder
- Open Claude Code, run /agents to confirm they loaded, then invoke by name — e.g. ask for the frontend or growth specialist on a real task
- video-use (agent video editing): needs Python 3.11+ and ffmpeg installed; pip install video-use, or clone github.com/browser-use/video-use and follow the README quickstart
- Feed it a source file plus a plain-English edit instruction (‘cut silences, pull the best 45-second clip’) — test on a podcast episode before trusting it on client work
- Skip OmniRoute unless juggling many model providers; skip ai-berkshire unless doing equity research; agents-cli only matters on Google Cloud
- Effort
- 10 min per repo to install; agency-agents useful same-day
- Cost
- $0 for all five repos — you pay only your existing Claude/API usage
- Stack
- Claude Code + git; Python 3.11 + ffmpeg for video-use
- Confidence
- High
