The repos are real, maintained, and do what the post says — this is one of the more honest tool lists we've graded. What the post skips: the two repos that actually generate video (DiffSynth/Wan2.2-Animate, EchoMimic) need a serious NVIDIA GPU, 50GB+ of model downloads, and a Python/CUDA environment build. 'Free and local' is true only if your machine already has a ~$1,600 graphics card in it. The other three utilities genuinely run on anything. And most of the actual viral talking-food clips are made with hosted models (Veo, Kling, Hailuo), not this stack.

The catch
The poster sells 1:1 calls and app builds — the harder this looks to DIY, the more calls get booked. And 'free' quietly excludes the hardware: without a 12GB+ NVIDIA card, your real options are renting a cloud GPU (~$0.35–0.70/hr) or just paying for the hosted tools the viral creators actually use.
How to actually do it
- Check your GPU first: Windows → Task Manager → Performance → GPU. You need NVIDIA with 12GB+ dedicated VRAM (RTX 3060 12GB is the floor, 4090/5090 is comfortable). No NVIDIA or under 12GB → skip to step 5.
- Install ComfyUI Desktop from comfy.org (one installer, handles Python/CUDA for you). Both video models have ComfyUI support — this beats raw-cloning the repos.
- In ComfyUI Manager, install Kijai's WanVideoWrapper for Wan2.2-Animate (motion transfer) and the EchoMimicV3 node pack (talking face). Download the FP8/quantized model variants when offered — they're what makes 12–16GB cards work.
- First test: Wan2.2-Animate wants a clean front-facing reference image (strip the background with rembg or any remover) + a 5–10s driving video at 720p. Expect minutes per clip, not seconds.
- No GPU? Rent one: runpod.io → Deploy → choose RTX 4090 (~$0.35–0.70/hr) → pick a ComfyUI template → same workflow as above, pay only while it runs. A finished 30s clip costs well under $1 of GPU time.
- The three utilities install on any machine, GPU or not: LosslessCut (free .exe from its GitHub releases) for trimming, video2x for upscaling AI output past the 'choppy AI look', pyVideoTrans for translate + dub.
