PARTLY TRUE "My AI salespeople talk to 100s of leads at once, take payments, book calls 24/7" — real software, inflated job title
The claimRight now, my AI salespeople are talking to hundreds of new leads simultaneously. They take payments and book calls on my sales team's calendar 24/7/365.
The core tech is real and commoditized: AI chat/SMS agents that answer a new lead in seconds, qualify, follow up relentlessly, and drop booked calls on a calendar are off-the-shelf products now. What is inflated is the job title. A 2026 study of 828,000 AI-setter conversations across 391 businesses found the agents qualified about 23% of engaged leads and booked roughly 2% into calls — that is a tireless appointment setter, not a sales team. "Takes payments" means the bot sends a checkout link. And texting hundreds of leads sits under a legal framework the ad never mentions.
What holds up
- AI SMS/chat agents that qualify leads and book calls are off-the-shelf tech
- Concurrency is trivially real — software runs hundreds of threads at once
- Speed-to-lead is the genuine edge: first touch in under 10 seconds
- 24/7/365 coverage of inbound response and follow-up is real
What doesn't
- "Salespeople" oversells it — independent data: ~2% of engaged leads booked into calls
- "Takes payments" = sends a Stripe-style checkout link; the AI closes nothing high-ticket alone
- Performs on warm inbound leads; cold-traffic results collapse
- Vendor "15–52% booking rate" figures are marketing numbers on form-fill leads
- The video is an ad for the poster's own AI sales platform
The catch
This is a funnel ad — the poster sells exactly the AI system being demoed, so the "AI sales team" is the product, not a case study. And mass-texting leads in the US runs under TCPA + A2P 10DLC: prior written consent, carrier campaign registration, instant STOP handling, 8am–9pm send windows — with $500–$1,500 exposure per unsolicited text. Unregistered traffic gets blocked by carriers outright. The demo mentions none of it.
How to actually do it
- Stack: GoHighLevel ($97/mo Starter, $297/mo Unlimited) with Conversation AI — or Appointwise layered on GHL — for SMS/DM lead follow-up. Add Vapi or Retell only if you want a voice layer
- Before the first text: register your A2P 10DLC brand + campaign, and only text leads who checked an SMS-consent box on your form. Keep the consent records
- Wire the trigger: form fill or missed call → agent sends first message within 10 seconds. Speed-to-lead is where all the lift lives
- Prompt the agent to qualify on exactly three criteria (budget, timeline, fit), then push the calendar link. "Payments" = a Stripe payment link at the right moment — never card details in chat
- Handoff rule: pricing objection or three unresolved turns → notify a human and stop the bot. This one rule separates working deployments from refund demands
- Set expectations before you build: on warm inbound, ~20% of engaged leads qualify and low single digits book. The economics work on volume and speed, not on a robot closer
- Effort
- 1–2 days to a working setter on warm inbound; 1–2 weeks total incl. A2P registration wait
- Cost
- $97–297/mo GHL + ~$0.01–0.03 per SMS segment; voice adds ~$0.10–0.25/min
- Stack
- GoHighLevel Conversation AI (or Appointwise), Twilio A2P 10DLC, Stripe payment links, Google/GHL Calendar
- Confidence
- High
