HOLDS UP The "best Claude Code skills for animation" — GSAP, Three.js, motion design, creative coding
The claimFour GitHub skill repos — official GSAP skills, Three.js skills, an official LottieFiles motion-design skill, and a creative-coding plugin — give Claude Code better context for building animation and motion work.
The rare AI listicle that checks out. All four repos exist under the exact names shown, and the two biggest claims — "official" — are true: the GSAP skills repo (12.8k stars) is published by GreenSock itself, self-described as "Official AI skills for GSAP," and the motion-design skill is published by the LottieFiles org. The creative-coding plugin’s rebrand note on the slide matches its README word-for-word and shipped a new version the week we checked. The premise is vendor-endorsed, not influencer-invented: when the maker of an animation library publishes skills to teach AI agents its correct current API, "better context" is exactly what you get — these load real, current knowledge that models routinely get wrong from stale training data. Only bullet-level embellishments: the Three.js pack has no particle-effects content despite the slide, and the LottieFiles skill is motion *principles* (timing, easing, choreography), not Lottie export tooling.
What holds up
- greensock/gsap-skills: real, org-owned, "Official AI skills for GSAP," 12.8k+ stars, actively updated
- LottieFiles motion-design-skill: real and genuinely first-party — a taste-and-timing principles library that works with any animation system
- Three.js skill pack: 10 real skills covering scenes, cameras, GLTF, lighting
- Creative-coding plugin: active solo project, shipped a new version within days of the post; slide text matches the README verbatim
- All four use Anthropic’s standard skill format and install cleanly
What doesn't
- "Particle Effects" on the Three.js slide: zero particle content in any of its 10 skills
- The LottieFiles skill won’t touch Lottie/dotLottie files — it teaches motion principles, not export tooling
- The Three.js pack’s own README clone command points at the wrong repository — install by copying its skills folder instead
The catch
Almost none — which is the story. The only trap is expecting two of the slide bullets (particles, Lottie export) that the repos never promised.
How to actually do it
- Install the official GSAP skills first — biggest payoff, first-party maintained
- Add the LottieFiles motion-design skill for taste: timing, easing, and choreography guidance on any stack
- Grab the Three.js pack only if you build 3D — and copy the skills folder manually (its own install command is broken)
- Vet third-party skills like any dependency: read what’s in the folder before you load it into your agent
This one goes in the toolbox. Verified worth adopting for real client site work.
